1. Daily Brushing & Tangle Prevention

  • Use the Right Brush: Always use your specialised Great Lengths loop brush (included in your Care Pack). Standard brushes can snag on bonds or tape tabs.
  • Hold the Roots: Support your hair by holding the base near your scalp with one hand to prevent tension on your natural hair.
  • Brush End-to-Root: Start brushing gently at the ends, working your way up to the mid-lengths, and finally through the attachment points.
  • Separate Daily: Run your fingers through your scalp every morning to keep Keratin Bonds separated and prevent friction matting.

2. Washing & Conditioning

  • Wash Upright: Always wash your hair standing in the shower. Never wash your hair upside down over a sink or tub, as this pulls on the bonds and causes matting.
  • Extension-Safe Shampoo: Massage our recommended sulfate-free shampoo gently into your scalp between your attachments. Avoid aggressive rubbing.
  • Conditioner Placement: Apply conditioner and treatments strictly from mid-lengths to ends. Never apply conditioner, heavy oils, or masks directly onto Keratin Bonds or tape adhesives, as this causes slippage.

3. Drying & Heat Styling

  • Never Stay Wet: Do not allow your attachments to sit wet for extended periods. Towel-pat gently (never rub) and immediately blow-dry your root area on a cool-to-medium heat setting.
  • Thermal Protection: Always apply a quality heat protectant spray before using hot tools.
  • Keep Tools Clear: Keep flat irons, curling wands, and high heat away from direct contact with keratin bonds or tape strips to avoid melting the adhesives.

4. Sleeping & Lifestyle Tips

  • Nighttime Prep: Never go to sleep with wet extensions! Before bed, make sure your hair is completely dry, brush it gently, and tie it into a loose, low braid or ponytail.
  • Chlorine & Salt Water: Before swimming, wet your hair with tap water and comb through a leave-in conditioner to prevent chlorine/salt absorption. Rinse and dry immediately after swimming.
  • Sunscreen Warning: Lockyer Valley summers mean plenty of sunscreen! Be careful when applying sunscreen to your neck and shoulders, as chemicals like Avobenzone in sunscreens can react with blonde extensions and turn them brassy or pink.
